You will find a link to create an auction draft on the home page once you are registered.  Click on the link to create an auction and fill in the parameters.  Send the league name and password to your fellow owners so they can join the auction you created.

In an auction style draft every owner starts with the same amount of money.  The Hanscom Fantasy Football League (HFFL) uses 84 dollars for 5 rounds.

The auction starts when the designated owner selects an available player and submits an initial bid.  Assuming the other owners have enough money and an available roster spot they can either increase the bid, pass, or do nothing.  An owner who wants nothing to do with the player submitted for auction can pass on the player, if you pass on a player you will not be allowed to increase the bid.

The auction tool I built uses a timer and once a bid is not increased for that customized predetermined time the player is awarded.  In addition to the timer running out on the last bid a player can be awarded in a variety of other ways.  A player can be awarded if the owner out bids all remaining owners.  If all but the owner of the bid pass on a player then the player will be awarded.  Finally, if everyone other than one owner has a full roster the player will obviously be awarded to the owner submitting the initial bid for the player.  Any time the bid is raised the timer is reset and bidding will continue with the latest bid amount.  The best way to see how it works is to create a two owner league and use two different accounts.  Create the league with one account and join with the other.

If you create an auction you may notice that the maximum money available is not what you think it should be.  For example the HFFL uses 84 dollars for 5 rounds yet our maximum available is 80 dollars. This is because you need to have at least $1 for every open roster spot.  In the HFFL that means a maximum of 80 dollars for the first pick, leaving 4 dollars for the remaining 4 roster spots.  Not a great strategy to spend all your money on one player.  Speaking of strategy that is what makes the auction style draft not only fun but a battle of football intellect as you try to get the players you target at a price that allows you to buy and build a balanced team.
